Course Description:

PRISM offers a comprehensive Western Keyboard Course through Trinity College, London. These graded exams in Keyboard, spanning from Grades Initial to 8, are meticulously designed to align with and respond to the diverse and evolving learning styles of modern Keyboard education. These exams not only assess students’ technical proficiency and musicality but also encourage creativity and personal expression by incorporating a variety of musical genres and styles.

Course duration

The duration for completing each grade is flexible and personalized, depending on the student’s individual pace, capability and commitment.

Age group: 6 years & above

Class size:

  • Individual Lessons One-on-one private instruction tailored to each student’s pace and goals. Duration: 45 minutes per session
  • Group Classes Collaborative learning environment with up to 8 students per batch with a duration of 45 minutes per session with instructors ensuring individual attention to support every student’s unique progress and learning style.

Learning Outcomes

Assessment/Exam

  • Graded Exams (Initial to Grade 8):
    • Students progress through eight levels, each designed to build technical and musical skills incrementally.
    • Exams assess:
      • Technical proficiency (scales, arpeggios, chord progressions).
      • Musicality (expression, interpretation, stylistic awareness).
      • Creativity (improvisation, personal expression).
      • Performance skills across classical and contemporary repertoire.
      • Higher grades (6–8) also include exploration of electronic keyboard features such as sequencing and sound layering.
  • Exam Structure:
    • Performance pieces: Students prepare and perform selected repertoire.
    • Technical exercises: Scales, arpeggios, chord progressions.
    • Musical knowledge: Questions on theory, interpretation, and stylistic elements.
    • Creativity component: Improvisation or stylistic interpretation tasks.
    • Listening & awareness: Ear training and musical understanding.

Certification

  • Trinity College London Certification:
    • Each grade passed earns an internationally recognized certificate.
    • Exams are regulated by Ofqual (England) and equivalent bodies in Wales and Northern Ireland, ensuring global credibility.
  • UCAS Points (for UK university applications):
    • Students passing Grades 6–8 (both Theory and Practical) gain UCAS points.
    • These points provide an advantage for IGCSE and A-Level students applying to UK universities.
  • Recognition:
